Historic District

This last week during spring break I visited the Historic District. A beach I’ve been to many times and I’ve forget the true charm of it. The Historic District is in Crystal Cove which is the first state park I’ve talked about on this blog. Crystal Cove is located in Newport and has four beaches within it: Moro beach, Reef Point, Historic District, and Pelican Point. During this blog post I will mainly focus on the Historic District.

To enter any of these four beaches you have to pay $15 to parking. Which is the one and only con I have. It’s a lot of money to pay to just be able to park but it does mean it guarantees you parking which is sometimes worth the cost. Once you’ve paid you are then able to visit any of the 4 beaches within Crystal Cove. This is really nice because if your sick of one beach you can beach hop to another without paying again or struggling to find parking.

Now going on to the Historic District. This is a little village filled with restaurants, cottages, and a cute shop all located right next to a beautiful and clean beach. To reach this beach you can either ride the shuttle which costs $1.50 or walk down the hill and through a tunnel. This is the perfect place to spend a whole day or rent one of their cottages for the weekend. Theres about 16 cottages and each have their own story on how they were first built and how the state renovated them. Each cottage also is competently different and has its own beachy charm to it. The restaurant, The Beachcomber, is located right on the beach. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and drinks. Theres also a Shake Shack up on the cliffs. It has the most beautiful view and serves the best shakes.

All in all this is the perfect beach to camp out at for the day. It has all the facilities you need to keep you going. While also being on a beautiful, clean beach.

  1. It seems there are a lot more beaches than I was aware there were seeing as there are four in one spot now. This seems like a place to get a condensed beach experience, I am sure it is a good tourist attraction to stay in those cottages when passing through instead of a hotel. Also I like the fifth picture down, looks like a cool place.

  2. Wow this place looks beautiful! Ive never been to Crystal Cove, but it seems like a pretty decent place to go stay for a little getaway. I'll have to mention it to my friends maybe we can stay in one of the cottages too or find an airbnb near by. Thanks for showing me a hidden gem
